A flow model in bulk metallic glasses
نویسندگان
چکیده
Based on the microscopic mechanisms applicable to bulk metallic glasses (BMGs), such as free-volume theory and fracture of brittle solids, a constitutive equation for crack-like propagation velocity shear bands in BMGs is deduced, νSBcl=ν0a0exp(−ES/kT). Furthermore, flow model monolithic successfully established, logνSB=log(ν0a0)+logeES/(kTl)−logeES/(kT). The explains clearly fundamental deformation at temperature far below liquidus temperature, i.e., mechanism serrated flows. Not only does accurately predict transition between non-serrated flows, but Arrhenius activation energy received by current most are consistent with experimental results. study paves way plastically process BMGs, avoiding catastrophic plasticity instability.

A predictive structural model for bulk metallic glasses
Great progress has been made in understanding the atomic structure of metallic glasses, but there is still no clear connection between atomic structure and glass-forming ability. Here we give new insights into perhaps the most important question in the field of amorphous metals: how can glass-forming ability be predicted from atomic structure? We give a new approach to modelling metallic glass ...

Partial crystallization or devitrification of bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) results in novel microstructures, with high density (10–10m ) nanocrystalline precipitates evenly distributed in a glassy matri...
متن کاملShear Band Formation in Bulk Metallic Glasses
In recent times, there has been a growing interest in the machining of amorphous metallic alloys, which are also called bulk metallic glasses (BMGs). These materials differ from common polycrystalline metallic alloys, because their atoms do not assemble on a crystalline lattice, and as a result, they have unique physical, mechanical, and chemical properties. A number of BMGs have been found to ...

Recent experiments have shown that fracture surfaces of bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) usually exhibit an intriguing nanoscale corrugation like fractographic feature mediated by nanoscale void formation. We attribute the onset of this nanoscale corrugation to TTZs (tension transformation zones) mediated cavitation. In our recent study, the spall experiments of Zr-based BMG using a single-stage li...
